LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND)
Sustainable Building and Design
BCbD’s mission is to find areas where a critical mass of development is happening or slated to happen, and then partner with organizations involved in that development to elevate standards of design and sustainability. BCbD is actively partnering or in discussions with several neighborhoods emerging as new centers of gravity for projects, including Ohio City-W. 25th Street, the Flats, Slavic Village and Midtown.
The LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) Rating System, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, is a useful tool in guiding discussions surrounding sustainable urban planning projects. LEED-ND integrates the principles of smart growth, urbanism and green building into the first national system for neighborhood design.
